Vilgain Darjeeling black tea - a select tea with a balanced flavour profile
Darjeeling black tea with a delicate and balanced flavour profile is made from the youngest and finest quality leaves of the Camellia sinensis tea plant. These are hand‑picked and carefully sorted for maximum quality and the perfect flavour profile of the resulting tea. Each cup thus has a delicate and balanced taste. Compared to English Breakfast black tea, which is strong and bold, it is the exact opposite.
A gentle processing method
After harvesting in the Darjeeling region of India, the leaves are left to oxidise. This activates enzymes and changes the colour and taste. The longer the leaves are oxidised, the darker the resulting tea. After oxidation, the leaves are rolled and dried to remove the water. This process helps to consolidate the flavour and aroma of the tea.
The highest grade of tea
Our tea comes exclusively from the first harvest, giving it a more delicate and balanced flavour. In addition, it is certified FTGFOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) - the designation for the highest quality tea, which consists of young leaves and buds of the tea plant.
It provides energy and aids digestion
Darjeeling is rich in caffeine and theobromine, so it boosts energy and alertness. It also contains antioxidants that protect the body from free radical damage. It can also improve digestion and promote proper metabolic function.
100% organic packaging
We pack our teas in a bag made of hard paper and PLA, which is a plant‑based material (90% of which is stems, leaves, etc.). The packaging is thus environmentally friendly and fully compostable. By having different properties to conventional plastic bags, the zip closure may occasionally tear away from the bag.
