Vilgain Quinoa black or Merlik chile is a gluten‑free pseudo cereal with a slightly sweet taste. It tastes great both salty and sweet. It retains its black colour even after cooking.
It is easily digestible and in a 100g portion you get almost 50% of the recommended daily fibre intake. It has a low glycaemic index, so it will keep you full for longer. It also contains a good portion of protein with all the essential amino acids, which are among the best quality of plant sources. This is confirmed by NASA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who took quinoa into space in 2015 as a nutritionally high value food.
Quinoa is ideal for soups, sauces, porridges, salads, side dishes or main meals. It can be well combined with sweet and savoury dishes.
