Sardines, a popular fish with a typical silver colour and slightly pinkish flesh. They are one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, so that in one can you get four to five times the WHO recommended daily intake of EPA and DHA.
Their intake supports proper heart function, which is achieved by consuming 250 mg of EPA+DHA per day. DHA also maintains healthy eyes and proper brain function, including the ability to concentrate, learn, remember and think; this beneficial effect is achieved by consuming 250 mg of DHA per day.
The healthy fats EPA and DHA will be appreciated by pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. This is because they contribute to the healthy eye and brain development of fetuses and breast-fed babies.

Fish with a wide range of beneficial substances for the body

Sardines also contain high-quality protein (22 %), iodine, minerals and vitamins. From one can, the body receives beneficial potassium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, calcium, selenium, vitamin D and some B vitamins (B3, B12).
Organic extra virgin olive oil is then a source of beneficial unsaturated fatty acids and contains the antioxidant polyphenols.

Quality comes first

Our sardines are caught in the Adriatic Sea and processed in Croatia with the IFS international standard for food safety and quality certification. The solid content of the canned product is 70-85%, with a minimum of 63 g. The omega-3 fatty acid content of one can of our Vilgain sardines is 1.4 g.
