They contain minimal sugar (<0,5g/100g), making them naturally bitter. They excel with flavour notes of honey, caramel, fruit and vanilla. They may be small, but they can do a lot of good: they are rich in good quality fats and protein (15%) - nutrients that, among other things, help to promote satiety.
They also contain a fair helping of minerals (iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, manganese, copper) and antioxidants (epicatechin, catechin and procyanidins) that protect your body from oxidative stress. They also help against inflammation and disease (especially cardiovascular ones) as well as helping to make your blood sugar levels more stable.
