Gunpowder green tea of the Temple of Heaven grade is known for its slightly bitter taste with a delicate smoky undertone. Compared to other varieties, it has a medium to stronger aroma with a hint of freshly cut grass. It originates from China, where this type of tea has been cultivated and valued for its quality since the 7th century. Temple of Heaven represents a higher grade of this tea, traditionally rolled into small pellets resembling gunpowder, which is how it got its name.
Traditional processing method for perfect flavor
Our Gunpowder requires hand‑picked young leaves of high quality that undergo minimal oxidation – this process is halted by drying, so the leaves retain their vivid green color and high content of essential oils. While still warm, the leaves are processed by special machines into firm pellets that protect their aroma and ensure long shelf life. This process gives the tea its distinctive flavor.
Invigoration any time of day
Green tea is a natural source of caffeine, L‑theanine, and antioxidants (polyphenols). Thanks to its natural caffeine content and active compounds, it helps promote mental freshness and supports concentration throughout the day. It is an ideal choice for a morning or afternoon boost.
Recommended preparation
Use 7 g of tea per 500 ml of water at 75–80 °C and steep for 1–3 minutes. For a combination with mint, you can extend the steeping time up to 10 minutes.
For iced tea, use 7–10 g of tea, pour over with water at 75–80 °C, let steep for 10 minutes up to half an hour, and pour into a larger jug over ice. For extra refreshment, add slices of lemon, lime, or a few mint leaves.
