Whey Isolate Protein Powder
Whey protein isolate (WPI) is a whey protein produced by a microfiltration process with a protein content of 85‑95 %. It is characterised by its low fat and carbohydrate content compared to concentrate. In the case of hydrolysate, it depends on the input protein.
Why go for isolate?
Due to its composition, isolate is the purest form of whey protein, yet it is not a very common protein. The main characteristics include:
- high protein content,
- fast and easy digestion,
- ideal as a pre‑contest diet - does not increase fat and carbohydrate intake,
- high biological value of protein,
- natural BCAA content.
Whey isolates are generally a suitable protein supplement even for lactose intolerant individuals, but it always depends on individual sensitivity.
The production method and the residual high protein content are the reasons for the higher purchase price compared to concentrate. The low carbohydrate and fat content results in a less attractive taste.
