That’s why it’s sometimes called Hopi corn. Its shape resembles a butterfly or a starfish and it belongs to the butterfly category. It is especially suitable for making savory popcorn.

The distinctive bluish corn is the result of contained anthocyanins and bioactive substances. In plants, these naturally occur as pigments and, besides blue corn, are also found in beetroot or in red cabbage leaves.

Popcorn contains about 30% of the recommended daily fiber intake per 100 g. Fiber is important for proper digestive function and provides a feeling of fullness.
