Handmade from the seeds of the African butter tree

Our unrefined shea butter is handmade by a local community in Ghana from the seeds of the African butter tree, which they collect in the wild as they ripen and fall spontaneously to the ground. The nuts are then boiled and dried in the sun. Production is completed by a long process of roasting, grinding, water rinsing and extra‑filtration, which finally yields 100% pure and richly creamy shea butter in the form of larger lumps that are dispensed into pouches without further modification (such as overpouring in the case of jarred dosing). Despite no additional ingredients, the butter has a pleasantly mild nutty aroma.

A thousand and one uses

The uses of shea butter are very versatile. It's not only good for the skin, as you might expect, but you can also use it as a lip balm, hand cream or to soften your nails and improve the condition of your nail beds. If you suffer from dry, shine‑free hair, make a hair mask out of shea butter once in a while. For pregnant women, it will help to reduce stretch marks.
