It would be great if you made a sugar-free version if that's possible. It's a lot of carbs for me with diabetes :( but at the same time I would appreciate some kind of sugar free drink like this. There aren't many.
Hi Eliska, we are planning a rehydration drink with sugar-free electrolytes at the end of this year. Have a nice day.
The Maltodextrin is a red flag, check out the video https://www.instagram.com/p/C9vJ3SrKtVC/
Exactly, I was surprised, this is not good, maltodextrin raises the blood sugar levels. This product can be replaced with a tube of grape sugar, a BCAA tablet, a mineral tablet and some black pepper etc to kick it up a notch. I like Vilgain and I wouldn't want another protein product, but this is unfortunately a step off
Hi Michal, both glucose (grape sugar) and maltodextrin are among the most rapidly absorbed sources of carbohydrates and therefore raise sugar levels faster than fructose or complex carbohydrates. This is the intent with this and similar products, as it results in the rapid replenishment of sugars to working muscles. Maltodextrin is used because, unlike glucose, it has a higher molecular weight, which makes it less osmotically active and less of a risk of digestive problems. A combination of both is used in our product. Have a nice day.
If you did some research on this and didn't post IG videos without context, you'd know that maltodextrin has side effects like other sugars (weight gain, insulin resistance, microflora imbalance). So you'd have to consume higher tens to hundreds of grams daily to experience AEs, just like with glucose etc...
You should be aware of who is consuming this and when, and in what situations, i.e. mostly young and healthy people during physical activity when replenishing fast sugars is downright required. Plus it says the maximum daily dose is 2 scoops (80g) and that much maltodextrin isn't even in there.
So yeah, if you drank it regularly every day for thirst, it's not a good idea, but in this case you're a little off in your perception of reality and product designation :)
