Vilgain Fleur de Sel - rare, unrefined and hand‑picked salt
Vilgain Fleur de Sel, also known as salt flower or Celtic salt, is a unique, 100% natural salt of extra high quality. Its supple crystals have an initially crunchy texture that dissolves quickly in the mouth and evenly opens the taste buds to a rich, delicate saltiness.
From the crystal clear waters of Greek protected landscape
Our Fleur de Sel comes from the wetlands around Mesolonghi, a port town in western Greece. The lagoons of this large protected landscape area filter the water naturally. The sun evaporates the water, creating concentrated salt ponds from which farmers then collect the salt by hand on sunny evenings. Only a limited amount is collected, so salt is very scarce. It is not extracted from the ground or from rock like regular salt.
Fine crystals without additives
It is less salty and does not overwhelm the other flavours of the dish, but rather helps them to stand out. With just a pinch, your gourmet creations take on a whole new flavour dimension. Fleur de sel is not chemically purified and retains its natural content of minerals and ions such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. These help maintain the acid‑base balance and support the proper functioning of the body.
