Vilgain Chicory Syrup – natural sweetener with fibre and minimal sugar

Vilgain Chicory Syrup – natural sweetener with fibre and minimal sugar

Sweeten your food and drink naturally and low‑calorie

Chicory root syrup stands out among other syrups in many ways. It is made using a gentle process from chicory root, offering a pleasantly sweet taste and thick consistency. Unlike sugar or other syrups, it’s ideal for daily sweetening, even during diets, and contains no added sweeteners or colorants.

Syrup (almost) without sugar? Exactly

No magic here, it’s simply chicory root syrup. It contains just 6% sugar (making it suitable for people with type 1 and 2 diabetes), is rich in fiber, and has a low glycemic index, so it won't cause a rapid spike in blood sugar. This also helps prevent hunger from returning too soon.

Only 162 kcal per 100 g

Suitable for diabetics

Low glycemic index (GI < 5)

69% fibre for better digestion

The high content of prebiotic fiber (inulin) supports the digestive system. Inulin isn't absorbed in the small intestine but travels to the colon, where it acts as a prebiotic—food for beneficial bacteria. A healthy digestive system brings numerous health benefits and ensures optimal absorption of nutrients from food.

Efficient production method for higher quality syrup

Our chicory syrup is made through enzymatic hydrolysis, ensuring consistent high quality and a smoother texture compared to the traditional roasting method.

1. Washing and cutting chicory roots

2. Breaking down inulin with enzymes into fructose and glucose

3. Filtering and concentrating for a thick syrup consistency

You won't find a more functional and versatile sweetener

With its sweet taste and excellent nutritional profile, chicory root syrup is a phenomenal sweetener for any kitchen. Add it to your morning coffee, use it in baking healthy treats, sauces, or anywhere else you need a touch of sweetness.

Amazing, I already have it in my stash along with xylitol. It has helped me replace sweetening completely when I want to lose weight. I use it in porridges etc.

Super recommended 🤩

I think I'm going to have to use a small amount, because it takes a lot to flavor a cup of coffee or tea, so I can only use it as a supplement. It doesn't sweeten it enough for me, even though I don't have a very sweet tooth. But it's definitely a 5!

answered questions
How much fructose and glucose does Vilgain Chicory Syrup contain per 100 g? And how much inulin?
If enzymatic cleavage of inulin into fructose and glucose takes place, then the end product, the syrup, no longer contains inulin, but fructose and glucose. Do I see that correctly? And the 69 grams of fiber per 100 grams of syrup are not made up of inulin either, are they?
