What is creatine monohydrate?

Creatine monohydrate is the most popular form of creatine and is considered the gold standard due to its low price, which is not compensated by lower efficiency. A minor disadvantage is the lower solubility. At the same time, it is one of the most widely used and researched sports supplements. In the case of monohydrate, it is possible to encounter the trademark Creapurewhich guarantees 100% purity and quality.

Creatine monohydrate and its effects

The main reason for taking monohydrate is to increase muscle strength and, thanks to more effective training, muscle mass growth. Besides, it helps to delay muscle exhaustion and improves the overall regeneration of the human body. Sprinters and other speed athletes can also benefit from the effects of monohydrate, as it contributes to higher speed and longer endurance in speed performance, and will also help with the dynamics in the first meters of sprinting.

When to take creatine monohydrate?

Creatine monohydrate is known for its specific dosing method, which consists of a so‑called saturation phase (4‑5×5 g for one week) and a maintenance phase (5g per day for the following period). However, the same results can be achieved with more sustainable dosing (5‑10 g per day), which is more friendly to more sensitive individuals who may not be comfortable with high doses during the saturation phase.

Regardless of the chosen method of dosing creatine, monohydrate should ideally be taken at the same time as protein, e.g. together with a protein drink after training.
